2002 Thurs March 14 1.30pm Miki Gildenlore: Masseuse "Miki, Massage and Magnets" Miki suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome which is often associated with fibro. She will tell her story, including taking part in the New York Wheelchair Marathon and the Sydney Olympics; and explains how Massage and Magnets helped her out of her wheelchair.

2002 Thurs Nov. 21 1.30pm Stew Wild Neuromuscular Therapist/Tutor 'Neuromuscular Therapy for FM' Stew is a Neuromuscular Tutor & Therapist at the NZ College of Massage. He works closely with 'Breathing Works' doing gentle soft tissue mobilisations for FMS and trigger point work for MPS. NMT helps with sleep patterns, breathing, anxiety and poor joint dissociation, ultimately helping to reduce pain. Success rate using massage and NMT is good. Stew has just returned from two U.S. bodywork conferences in October. He visited the Fibromyalgia Foundation in Portland, Oregon and later contacted Dr Tiffany Field of the 'Touch Research Institute' to explore massage methods she used in her research article on FM. Stew tutors in Neuromuscular Therapy, NMT, a 2 year NZQA Diploma course at the NZ College of Massage. This month, 15 Neuromuscular Therapists graduate in Auckland, ready to set up business and needing clients. |

By popular request, Julie returns again this year. Thurs April 11 7.30pm *Megan Parker: "Guaifenesin" Megan researched and studied Guaifenesin thoroughly before starting to use it four years ago. She speaks directly with Dr Paul St Amand in the USA. With a private practice in Remuera, he also consults for South Auckland Health and until recently, Taranaki Health. Very experienced in rehabilitation medicine, he recently gave a talk on Fibromyalgia, illustrated with 'PowerPoint', to Auckland doctors. Ken Shirley is the Health Spokesperson for ACT New Zealand who will speak on how this draconian legislation will regulate medicines, medical devices and dietary supplements in New Zealand.
