Dear Jacqui,
I have felt the need to share with you and other FMS victims the absolute proof I have that the guai reversal approach works.
I have always had pain in my abdomen, my breasts, my neck and shoulders and with dozens of professionals, there was no explanation. At one point, I suffered for 5 years unable to stand any touch whatsoever on my feet and was in a wheelchair undergoing various attempts at relief without success. Along with an hysterectomy, cortisone injections, herbal and Far Eastern applications, my body continued to fall apart. How I envied watching people going jogging, playing with their children, putting in a full day without the moaning and bemoaning of my condition.
Then, I began to choke on food and everything else I put into my mouth. Two years ago, I got a very small aspirin stuck in my throat and it wouldn't go down or come back up. It required surgery, which made 2 tears in the oesophagus' lining and 5 days in the hospital to get it out. The x-rays showed that my throat had reduced to 1/8" without any explanation. The specialists tried to stretch my throat 4 times without success and I was reduced to a liquid diet. I couldn't even swallow applesauce easily.
Next, without any basis, my heart began to race. Exercise programs wouldn't let me participate because my heartbeat was far too fast even at rest. My pulse was 140 bpm even when I was in bed. So off to the heart specialist who could not come up with an answer or reason for this.
I am basically a very healthy person who just hurts and aches all the time and can't sleep without a very high dosage of drugs. The heart specialist said that if my heart continued to work so hard over a period of time, it would just give up. I was tired of liquid meals and being in pain from head to toe.
Then, after reading about FMS and Dr. St. Amand's approach and joining Auckland Fibro Support, I was ready to do whatever it took. Let me tell you that I had all the symptoms and when examined by Dr. Kuttner, I had proof of how sick I was. My body map might as well be all colored in.
On the aside, I truly feel Dr. Kuttner is a wonderful human. Not that I want this to be my call to fame but he said that I had the worse case of FMS he had seen as it is all in my abdomen. After seeing the cardiologists afterwards, they feel that it has invaded all my arteries and is forcing my heart to beat at a terribly high rate day and night.
The guai reversal approach is not easy -- in fact, it hurts badly at times and I wondered if it is worth the pain. But, after 6 weeks on guai, I found my heart rate slowed to a normal 80 bpm at rest and only 120 bpm after 45 minutes of the treadmill. I also found I could swallow any size pill as well as food. My curiosity made me have an x-ray on my throat and the constriction was gone. There was even circulation in my feet for the first time in 18 years.
If I hadn't started guai, my heart would be in danger, my throat was closed up, and every organ was sending pain signals that couldn't be diagnosed. Now, I have absolutely no problems with either heart or throat and this result is fascinating to my physicians who had never considered what FMS can do.
Usually FMS is not life threatening but I have to state that in all sincerity, the guai protocol has saved my life.
I have seen dozens of medical people and had been put on many approaches, which did not address the cause and rarely affected the symptoms. It is vital to me that guai be available as well as having a medical professional who understands the process.
I was turned down by no fewer than 5 doctors when I approached them and explained the guai approach. Yes, it is experimental but there are far too many people who can testify to its positive effects to be ignored. Based on what I have read, I'll probably be very, very uncomfortable for 3 years or so but it keeps me going now that I have definite, concrete physical evidence of improvement.
Please feel free to share my story with anyone else as I feel an obligation to help others as well.
Sincerely,
Gaille R. Brennan, Ph.D.
