GUAI MENTOR
    ~ ROBYN COOPER

We welcome Guaier Robyn Cooper of Havelock North, halfway between Hastings and Napier - our first mentor for the Lower North Island.
Robyn is a Kiwi, Christchurch born - a fit, sporting type. Well, that's until she was fifty-five!   Her soul-rendering story typifies the enormous damage done through lack of proper diagnosis. Don't our hearts go out to these people?
However, Robyn gradually learnt about Fibro and then Guaifenesin. Today Robyn considers herself as 50% better in 15 months, and that is saying something! She can enjoy her grandchildren and their activities now for a couple of hours. Impossible before, and she missed so much of their growing up.
Recently she visited her rheumatologist - he was amazed at her improvement BUT Robyn has not yet told him why - that she has been using Guai.
"Go for it, Robyn - tell him your message. Let him hear your story and help others too!"   Watch this space.

ZANNE ARAM

We welcome Guaier Zanne Aram of Te Kauwhata in the Waikato as a Guai mentor for 'Positive Living'.
Zanne is our oldest person in New Zealand using Guaifenesin, being the first and oldest contributor to 'Positive Living' since April 2001.
She has written a wonderfully moving account, in several letters, of coping with her fibro as she nursed her husband Teddy after 55 years of marriage.
Many of you will empathise with Zanne as you feel yourself go through the same stories she tells of managing her fibro and the difficulties of caring for another ill person.
Zanne started using Guai in February 1999. She found her cycling dose as described in the protocol, and came to her daily cycling dose of 1200 mg capsules in August 1999.
Zanne is now a bright, energetic, active lady who still swims in the local swimming pool. She has a family of four and is blessed with many grandchildren, some now living in Australia.

Mentor for 'Positive Living'

VIVIENNE BLAKIE

We welcome Guaier Vivienne Blakie of Christchurch as our first South Island Guai mentor for 'Positive Living'.
Like many, Vivienne cannot remember ever feeling well - except she did not recognise it like that. She thought this was the way she should feel.
Vivienne hit rock bottom after she had been through a period of severe stress. She went to the doctor with the usual list of complaints and headaches which were so severe, she could not touch her head or brush her hair.
You will empathise with Vivienne as everything continued to get worse until she was trying all sorts of painkillers. If this was her life, she did not want it.
Two years ago, Vivienne was given a copy of Dr St Amand's book. She was fortunate to be able to speak with him and Claudia and started using Guai in April 1991. She is known as a 'low dose, fast responder, where she cycles all the time.
Vivienne can now do more housework and is able to go shopping and actually enjoy it. She is even able to go walking every day! Vivienne knows she is getting her life back again and now she has something to live for. Vivienne has a life of hope.

MARIAN GENT

We welcome Guaier Marian Gent of Koromiko near Picton, at the top of the South Island - a particularly beautiful part of our country.

Marian, her husband and family are self-employed working with Alpacas. Farming anything is a difficult way of life, without having Fibro! However, when you don't know what is wrong, it is doubly difficult.
Marian takes you on a journey looking back and we see how she was affected by her unwellness from the age of nine years. Not only that, it was not until Marian was nearly fifty years old, when finally, she was diagnosed with a name she could put to her fibromyalgia.
Even then, there were problems with treatment, and realising the adjacent problems were part of her fibro too, until she found guaifenesin from a chance encounter. Her husband's conversation with a stranger was the turning point for Marian - the start of a new life!
