An excellent source of high quality Guaifenesin is being compounded in New Zealand. A survey amongst users ascertained viability for a reputable, local manufacturing pharmacist to compound Guai for us, at prices that were acceptable to our long-term users and extremly competitive to overseas prices. We established the parameters in conjunction with Professor Dr R. Paul St Amand, experienced N.Z. users, Guai-support International and users at The Fibromyalgia Treatment Centre in Los Angeles, U.S.A.

Positive Living supplies Guafenesin in 300mg & 600mg lactose-free, gelatin (sal-free) capsules which give immediate, then sustained action. Our service began in June 2002.

Order directly through Jacqui at 'Positive Living'. This direct method for distribution of Guaifenesin avoids advertising and extra overhead costs. Our bulk buying reduces costs to you, the consumer. Please support us to keep supplies being made in New Zealand.

The use of Guaifenesin (Guai) is still experimental but a study of people in New Zealand using it will provide good data for others considering it's use. More knowledge is definitely needed as people undertake to use Guaifenesin in New Zealand on a widespread basis.
For people using Guaifenesin         Read about the possibility of a local Study

Past Updates re sourcing Guaifenesin Internationally

Past News at 10 April 2002
With the recent closure due to new Australian regulations, of the service from the Australian Pharmacy who was supplying Guai, we are looking internationally for new sources of good quality Guaifenesin at a competitive price to users. There are various sources to be found from searching on the Guai-support Website.

We are negotiating now with a source in New Zealand who are producing Guaifenesin. To date, this source only has 300mg capsules available in small quantities. We will update this site as soon as new information is available.

At 10 April 2002, Gardens Pharmacy in England offered a reliable and very competitive service of excellent quality Guai. (They now require scrip - 30 03 02_Ed.)

Past News from Jacqui: 12 April 2002
This is great news from Tesa. However, as mentioned to people at our April meeting - there are rumours our New Zealand Coalition-Labour government is making moves, which they will endorse after the election if they are re-elected with a mandate. These moves may result in people not being able to import supplements etc from overseas. With this in mind, we will keep working with our New Zealand suppliers and try to encourage them with their prices and production of Guaifenesin. In the meantime, the English suppliers are the most competitive for supplies. I will keep you updated on movements - Jacqui

Past Aussie news from Tesa Marcon of Guai-support: 12 April 2002
"I'm very excited, because Clark Hellier is going to register Guaifenesin and begin selling to OZ'ies and NZ'ers. He will sell the 600 mg with scrip, and the 200 mg OTC. I'll write to our list and let everyone know as soon as Clark is up and running again."

"One doctor in NSW said he was having 50% recovery for his FMS patients on Guai. I told Clark to give him my number because that is not good enough, although he is thrilled. An OZ member (thanx Trevor!) found a couple of physiotherapists here in Victoria willing to learn to map, nay, one of them is KEEN to learn about the protocol and mapping. A doctor called me yesterday telling me he's opened a clinic here in Victoria to focus on FMS patients and he wants to get them on Guai."

Auckland Fibromyalgia Support confirms that

Dr Johnathan Kuttner spoke
at 7.30pm, 5th December 2002
at St Lukes Community Centre,
130 Remuera Road, Remuera, Auckland
We arranged another get-together beforehand.
Dr Kuttner, who practices at Waiuku, just out of South Auckland, is our most knowledgeable G.P. in New Zealand in regard to Guaifenesin. He has an extensive Guaifenesin patient list and is happy to give advice and do a first mapping for you, if you are referred and supported by your G.P.
He prefers that you have first read Dr R. Paul St Amand's Book on Guaifenesin before seeing him and that you understand about the Sal-free products and diet required.
Dr Kuttner is now a practising Musculoskeletal Specialist at Papakura - Ed. 2004)

Written comments after meetings held in Auckland on 11th April 2002 when
Megan Parker spoke on Guaifenesin.
People came from as far afield as Kaiwaka in Northland;
Port Waikato, Matamata, Tauranga and Whakatane in the South.

"Thank you both very much for a sharing, enlightening
and empowering meeting last night" - D.L.

"I really enjoyed the support meetings, It was nice to meet so many people
in the same situation as I am who are doing lots of positive things.
It was good to hear so many positive things about the Guai treatment too.
I hope to go on Guai at some stage, when the time is right." - B-M N.

"Thanks for organising the wonderful night last night.
It was really great to have the earlier function and get-together
as everyone had a lot of questions
& it was great to have everyone together just to discuss things.
I'm sure everyone got a lot out of it. Thanks once again" - B.W.

"Well done for last night. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone
at your lovely place and I gained lots of ideas.
I think the most encouraging thing was seeing so many people smiling.
I think I have forgotten how - one thing to look forward to again as I recover.
Thank you again. Well done and bless you both" - J.H.

"Thank you for a most interesting and helpful evening.
Also for all the effort put into spreading helpful information.
It was well worth the effort of coming to Auckland" - K.R. & M.R.

"I had a wonderful time at the Guai evening, thank you for arranging everything!
We arrived home just before midnight. Despite what I said earlier in the night,
I didn't go to sleep on the way home at all! Too much to think about."   :-)   - W.H.
